Painting ala Pollock

Okay...sort of... I let the kiddos do marble painting tonight and it was a huge hit! Except for Milan...she cried. She said it was too messy. She said it was nothing but scribbles.

She ran to her room, threw herself on her bed and cried some more.

When she finally emerged the kids and I took a web trip to visit the art of Jackson Pollock. II had to prove that he was real--that people actually loved his work and paid big bucks for 'scribbles'.

The boys on the other hand were just happy that their project was quick so they could go back to their video games.

I'm curious - did she feel better about it after the website visit? Or was she still frustrated about the style of art? My daughter would probably be in tears too because it's not "drawing art". (ie something that she draws then paints or colors in)

i think they're great!

We had a messy art birhtday party a few years ago, and I bought canvases for all the kiddos, and we went in the backyard and flung paint at them. They LOVED it.

Here's a fun one. Milan can even enjoy Pollock style creation without all the mess. http://www.jacksonpollock.org/
